LOCAL NEWS - DECEMBER 11, 2020 - The Second Case of COVID-19 Has Just Been Confirmed on the LNS

The CISSS de la Côte-Nord updated their website today at 11:00am Quebec time with covid information for the territory fromsanté publique. At that time, there was 9 new cases announced today for the North Shore, 1 in the MRC du Golfe du Saint-Laurent (Lower North Shore), 2 in the MRC Haute-Côte-Nord, 3 in the MRC of Manicouagan, and 3 in the MRC Sept-Rivières.

At this time, there may be little to no details given about the new case on the Lower North Shore, as the CISSS de la Côte-Nord previously mentioned privacy in their press conferences since the 1st confirmed case was announced on the Lower North Shore back in November. The CISSS reminded the population at that time of the importance of respecting the privacy of anyone confirmed of having COVID-19, giving them support, and to not have any community discrimination.

In total to date, there have been 227 confirmed cases on the North Shore region since the beginning of the pandemic, with 209 cases having been cured, leaving 16 cases now active in the territory, 0 hospitalizations at this time, and 2 deaths on the North Shore due to COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic.

The North Shore territory remains at ALERT LEVEL 2 in yellow, which is the early warning stage.
