Quilts of Valour Given to Local Veterans and Those Who Currently Serve

Updated: Apr 17, 2023

LOCAL NEWS - AUGUST 19, 2021 - Supporting those who served from our region with quilts of comfort

CFBS was speaking today with Camilla Gallibois, the regional representative (Sept-Iles to Blanc-Sablon) for Quilts of Valour, an organization whose mission is to ensure that Canadian Forces members are recognized for their service and commitment to our country. They give support through the presentation of quilts to comfort past and present Canadian Forces members. A Quilt of Valour is a single, lifetime gift from a grateful nation.

The need for quilts continues to grow. At present, there are approximately 185,000 Veterans in our country, many of whom are eligible to receive a Quilt of Valour. To date, they have presented nearly 17,000 quilts. Each one a handmade hug, stitched with love and gratitude by grateful Canadians.

Check out the Quilts of Valour website by clicking here, to request a quilt for someone you can click here.

Camilla is seeking local quilters who would be interested in volunteering their time to help produce the quilts for those who are eligible. If you are interested in donating your services, contact Camilla by phone at (613) 407-0372 or email at camilla.gallibois@quiltsofvalour.ca
